Aikido club Asahi of Lappeenranta is a non-profit association founded in 1988, the purpose of which is to spread aikido in Lappeenranta and its surrounding areas. Asahi is  a member of Finland Aikikai. In addition, Asahi is  a member of the EKLU (South Karelian Sports Association).

Aikido is based on the old Japanese samurai tradition of martial arts. In aikido unarmed and armed techniques unite with holistic exercise of the mind and body. True goal of aikido is not related to self-defense or fighting but self-overcoming, spiritual growth, a good life and peace. The purpose of aikido is to protect life not to hurt others.

In Asahi we practice aikido in a versatile manner without emphasizing any single aikido styles. We practice aikido in a variety of perspectives , so that the trainee could get a comprehensive understanding of the various dimensions of Aikido and achieve wide-ranging expertise.

In Lappeenranta we train at Etelä-Karjalan Kamppailuareena  in Tukkikatu 2 A, 53900 Lappeenranta. See Google Maps for location.

In Imatra we train at Imatra Swimming and Sports Centre (Imatran Urheilutalo) at Kotipolku 2, Imatra. See Google Maps for location.
